Cisco systems
Research Intern
Knoxville
Ben was in the systems security research group of prof. Herbert Bos of the VU University in Amsterdam for 2 years, working on software reliability, defensive research projects, and most recently, offensive research, most noticeably publishing on making cross-VM Rowhammer exploitation reliable. He is pursuing a PhD in mischief there and just moved to Knoxville to do a research internship with Cisco in the ASRG group. Before all this, he spent 10 years as a systems programmer building the Minix microkernel-based operating system in the OS research group of prof. Andy Tanenbaum, dragging it kicking and screaming into the modern era with luxuries such as memory paging, crosscompiling, and multi-arch support (x86+ARM) and a modern user land (taken from NetBSD).
